Dr. Lillard Ashley, Jr.’s work with Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc. and the Kansas City Heart Association allow him to continue his commitment to education and research and deliver the latest in treatment options to his patients.

Ashley’s own education began with a degree from Oklahoma State University.  He attended Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn., and work post-graduation at George W. Hubbard Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., and the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Ashley joined Kansas City Cardiology Associates in 1999. He is also Medical Director of Cardiology at Lee’s Summit Hospital.

Ashley is married with three children.
 

 
Dr. F. Douglas Biggs, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. F. Douglas Biggs, believes in the power of education and sharing what he knows with medical students.  For years he taught at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., while maintaining his private practice.  Today, he shares his knowledge with patients and colleagues alike at Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc.

Biggs’ own educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and, his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo.  He completed and internship and residency and fellowship in cardiology at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis, Washington University School of Medicine.

Biggs lives in Kansas City, Mo.

 

 
Dr. David R. Blick, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Just a few years ago, if you looked to the skies in Houston, you might have seen Kansas City Cardiology Associate, Inc.’s Dr. David R. Blick.  As a fellow at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston from 1987-89, Blick, a Chanute, Kan., native, also served as helicopter flight physician for Aeromedical Services at The Methodist Hospital.

Today, the St. Louis University and University of Kansas School of Medicine graduate, keeps his feet firmly on the ground.  In addition to his private practice, he serves director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Research Medical Center.

Blick lives in Prairie Village.
 

 
Dr. William Brodine, M.D., F.A.C.C.

It’s easy to see that Dr. William Brodine is a leader – if there’s a first to be done, something to be created, he’s your man.  In 1983, he became the first electrophysiologist at Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc. Soon after he created the Electrophysiology Department at Research Medical Center.  In 2000, he helped found the Kansas City Heart Foundation, a group he still actively serves.

Brodine earned his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University. He attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. His completed his post-graduate education at the University of Utah.

Brodine is married with three children.

Dr. Daniel H. Dunker, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Daniel H. Dunker brings an array of experiences from around the country to his work at Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc.  He completed both his undergraduate and medical school educations, along with a residency at the University of Nebraska, at campuses in Lincoln and Omaha; completed an internship at the University of South Florida and a fellowship at the University of Louisville, in Louisville, Ky., and worked in both South Dakota and Wisconsin as well.

Today, Dunker and his wife and five children live in Parkville, Mo. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Internal Medicine.

Earning recognition for being at the top of his game isn’t new for Dr. James R. Eynon of Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc.  He was honored multiple times as a student with admission to several national honor societies, earned the Sophomore Pathology Award while in medical school and the Highest Cumulative Average Award for the Class of 1973 in his graduating medical school class.

Eynon earned his undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University and attended the University of Pittsburgh Medical School.  He completed his post-graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center Hospitals.

Eynon is married with two children.

Dr. Ravi K. Garg of Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc., practices what he preaches when it comes to telling his patients to maintain their cardiac health. His hobbies include running, biking, golf and skiing, so he is less than likely to let patients get away with excuses when it comes to exercising.

Garg’s education includes a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, graduation from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago with a residency there as well and a fellowship at the University of Chicago Hospitals.

Today, Garg lives in Mission Hills, Ks.
 
   
 
Dr. Eric S. Hockstad, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Eric S. Hockstad believes in giving back to his professional community.  He is a founding member of the Kansas City Heart Foundation, and today remains involved as president of the organization’s executive committee.  He brings his enthusiasm and research expertise to that job as well as his work at Kansas City Cardiology Associates and Research Medical Center, where he serves as Director of Interventional Cardiology.

Hockstad completed his undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Michigan.  His post-graduate education was completed at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinic.

Hockstad is married and has three children.

Dr. John McGarry Holkins, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. John McGarry Holkins, M.D., leads the talented group of cardiology specialists at Kansas City Cardiology Associates as chief executive officer and managing partner.  He has been with the group since 1981.

Holkins received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, and attended medical school at Stanford University.  He completed his post-graduate education at the University of Utah Medical Center, where he was chief medical resident.

Holkins is active with the Kansas City Heart Foundation as a board member and is the chief of the Division of Cardiology at Research Medical Center.

Dr. Willie Edward Lawrence, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Willie Edward Lawrence believes in being true to his schools.  When not seeing patients at Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc., the father of three is involved with his alma mater's recruiting efforts in Kansas City.  For Phillips Exeter Academy, he serves as a regional vice president of admissions.  For Harvard College, he is a member of the Kansas City Schools and Scholarship Committee.

Lawrence’s education extended onto Harvard’s medical school and then to post-graduate work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Dr. John Kenneth N. Lee lends an international flair to the practice of Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc.  Born in Toronto, Canada, Lee earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, Manila.  Following, he completed internships and residencies at Philippine General Hospital as well as Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Ill.  He completed fellowships at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, Minn., and at the University of Western Ontario (Can.). 

Today, Lee, a member of the American College of Physicians, lives with his wife Charisse and their two daughters in Kansas City, Mo.

If you’re looking for Dr. Marco Mazzella when he’s not seeing patients at Kansas City Cardiology Associates, Inc., you might find him playing tennis, riding a mountain bike or maybe catching a movie at a local theater.

Mazzella’s educational background includes earning both undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.  From there, he went on to complete an internship and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center as well as a fellowship in cardiovascular disease.

Mazzella lives in Lenexa, Ks.  He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.

 
   
 
Dr. James E. Sear, M.D., F.A.C.C.

It was fate that James E. Sear would end up as Kansas City Cardiology Associate Inc.’s director of nuclear medicine.  After all, he already had spent time in two places with strong connections to Kansas City before arriving here in 1989.  He completed an internship and residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, just down the road from Green Bay, home of the Packers, who defeated the Chiefs in Super Bowl I.  Then, he completed a fellowship in cardiology at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, home to the Cardinals, who lost the 1985 World Series to the Royals.

Today, Sear, the SLU Medical School graduate and his wife Kathy live in Overland Park, Ks.  In addition to his private practice, he works with the Kansas City Heart Foundation.
